Here at DD we try to take every opportunity to share our love of all things digital with as many people as we possibly can. This is why we recently took part, for the fourth year in a row, in the BIMA-organised Digital Day.
Digital Day is an annual event organised by the British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) that connects digital industry organisations with schools and colleges across the UK. The event raises awareness for young people in the diverse range of fantastic digital career opportunities available to them. Remarkably, BIMA now understand that 87% of young people who hear about careers on Digital Day want to find out more about a digital career.
Not only that, this was also a fantastic learning experience for all of us from DD who took part in the day. We came away incredibly inspired by the talents, passions and aspirations of a bright new generation of young people who are eager to bring their experiences and enthusiasm to digital careers.
This year DD was matched with the BRIT School, where we met an amazing group of students in their Interactive Digital Design stream. The event gave us the opportunity to share with the students the diversity of roles we have here at DD in our developer, design, marketing and operations teams. We also had the opportunity to provide some of our expertise to guide the students in completing group challenges to create a compelling digital campaign on a topic of their choosing.
The biggest takeaways for us from the day was how much digital, in all its forms, is in embedded into the lives of young people and how aware they are of the different ways digital can be used as a tool for addressing the issues that are important to them. Digital is always evolving and if the creativity and innovation shown by the students we met at Digital Day is any indication, the future of the digital industry will continue to be revolutionary!
